Record 5.6 Million Viewers For 2014 NL Wild Card Game On ESPN- Forbes

Record 5.6 million viewers a turn around for ESPN?

This article is about the game between the Giants and the pirates with there NL wild card game it brought in 5.6 million viewers. This is an all time high for ESPN even though the giants killed the pirates 8-0 it still brought in this number.

It makes me wonder if this number could be broken in any up coming games like the world series. Will the world series reach 6 million views? I hope it does this shows that more and more people are starting to follow the game and this can bring in more money for the sports world.

Sports Economics: NFL, MLB, NHL, and the Effects of the Depression- Bleacher Buzz

Sports Economics and effects of the depression

This article is talking about the growth of sports and how they really started to grow. It was talking about how baseball went from just a back yard game to Ruth, Gehrig, Mack, and John McGraw.  In the 1929, a lot changed with sports.  As the economics of sports changed, many found themselves deciding between food and sports and food won.  Teams that had been kings of yesteryear fell to pieces or bankruptcy, as owners found all their other businesses collapsing.

In this article it also talks about how the NFL grew so much. The NFL went from a 12 team league to eight. Now it went to 32 it just shows how much the economy can change. More people are becoming more and more into investing in sports. This is also why the players are getting paid more and more now of days.

In my opinion sports are the biggest thing  to the people of America. There are more and more people investing and trying to own sports teams. Because they will become known very well and make those huge bucks.
